Creativity is the lifeblood of any thriving community. It is the spark that ignites innovation, fosters connection, and enhances the quality of neighborhood life. This post very briefly explores the importance of “creatives” in the community and extends an invitation to residents to become part of a Montage Creatives Interest Group (MCIG) being explored.

Creatives, a term now widely associated with individuals engaged in any form of artistic or innovative endeavor, are the heart and soul of vibrant neighborhoods. They are not just artists, but also architects, engineers, writers, social media enthusiasts, advertisers, photographers, culinary artists, crafters, musicians, and more. Their diverse talents and perspectives enrich the community, making it a more interesting, attractive, and enjoyable place to live.

The impact of creatives on a community is multifaceted. First, they contribute to the neighborhood’s aesthetic appeal. Their influence can be seen in the design and appearance of Montage homes, landscapes, signage, and common area amenities. They bring color, texture, and style to the built environment, turning ordinary spaces into extraordinary ones.

Secondly, creatives foster a sense of community. They organize and participate in cultural events, exhibitions, and workshops, bringing residents together and strengthening social bonds. These activities provide opportunities for residents to connect, learn, and collaborate, enhancing the social fabric of the community.

Thirdly, creatives add value to the community. Studies show that neighborhoods with a high concentration of creatives tend to be well-kept, attractive, and stable. Creatives are known to work to add value to their community, improving the quality of place and making it more desirable for current and prospective residents.

Recognizing the critical role of creatives, cities across the country are making efforts to incubate neighborhood hotspots for creatives. The goal is to attract new residents who are likely to contribute positively to the community. In this spirit, I invite residents of Montage to join the discussion on the establishment of an interest group (MCIG) to explore the matter further.

The MCIG is envisioned as a platform for creatives in Montage to connect, collaborate, and contribute. As a member, you will have the opportunity to share your talents, learn from others, and work together on projects that enhance the community. Whether you are a professional artisan, an amateur creative, or someone who appreciates the arts, you are welcome to join.

By joining the MCIG, you will also be contributing to the broader arts scene in Cathedral City. The city’s Public Arts Commission is expanding its arts activities and is keen to involve more resident artists. There are opportunities to exhibit and sell your works at the city’s new quarterly Artists exhibition at the Cathedral City Library, and to be included in a new directory of local artists.

In conclusion, creatives play a crucial role in shaping the character, vitality, and resilience of our community. By nurturing creativity, we can enhance neighborhood value, foster social connection, and improve the quality of life for all residents. We invite you to join the Montage Creatives Interest Group and be part of this exciting journey. For more information, please contact Scott Reese at scott.o.reese@gmail.com.
